Webinar Event - Transforming Scottish Agriculture Through Smart Sensor Farming

24 February 2021

Event starts at 7pm

Delivered via Zoom

Smart digital is transforming the way we farm, improving productivity, profitability and sustainability. Developments in the Internet of Things (IoT) technology mean that whole farms can now be digitally connected with a collection of sensors - allowing real-time monitoring of crops, livestock, machinery, soils, stores and people.

The info provided by the data these sensors gather could simply give you back time in your day by automating admin tasks, or provide powerful insights and intelligence, helping you manage and improve your business. Undoubtedly, data will be at the core of transforming the farms of the future. SAOS, SmartRural, NatureScot and RSABI are pioneering this exciting technology on a range of farm demonstration sites across Scotland.

This webinar, aimed at farmers, crofters and their advisers, will share the results from a one-year pilot project to test low-power smart sensors on our three Demonstration Farms. It's a great opportunity to learn more about smart digital farming and you'll hear first-hand from the host farmers on their experiences, and the benefits and challenges from adopting this new technology.

The three Demonstration Farms are:

  • Elaine Booth and Peter Robertson, Ednie Farms, Aberdeenshire
  • Neil and Debbie McGowan, Incheoch Farm, Alyth
  • Russell & Robbie Brown, Inverdovat Farms, Fife
