More detail on each workshop -

Workshop #1 - Planning to Attract the Right People - Discover effective methods to attract the right people

How do you get the right person, who wants to work in a rural area, with the right attitude and set of skills, and the capacity to navigate the changes happening in agriculture?

This workshop is designed for operational managers, perhaps they don’t regularly recruit staff, yet need to attract and retain the right people for their organisation.

In this session, you will learn to define the “right person” for the role, attract suitable candidates, and present their co-op effectively through social media and other platforms. Participants will engage in hands-on practical exercises to develop actionable plans, including writing effective job descriptions and considering market value and the overall job package.

By the end of the session, attendees will have a comprehensive understanding of fair recruitment practices, interview techniques, and on-boarding processes, ready to implement these strategies within their organisations.

Workshop #2 - Planning to Retain the Best People - Understand the importance of competitive and fair compensation

A rewarding job is not just about salary. Flexibility and packages can also attract and retain good people. If some organisations can’t compete on salary, then they can compete on other things.

This workshop is ideal for operational managers in co-ops or agri organisations, those involvedin HR, and anyone seeking to enhance their staff retention strategies. It is particularly suited for those looking to develop a benefits package that aligns with theirorganisation’s values and budget constraints.

On completion, participants will be able to understand the various components that can be included in a benefits package, learn to balance market value with affordability when setting benefits packages and align benefits with organisational values and culture.

Workshop #3 - Planning to Manage Performance in the Right Way - Learn techniques to enhance staff performance and productivity

How do you tackle poor and reward good performance? What are the tools and processes you can use? Annual staff performance appraisals are a powerful management toolthat must be used properly. If they aren’t they can be a disaster!

This workshop is aimed at operational managers and line-managers responsible for conducting performance appraisals. It is ideal for those looking to implement or refine a performance management system that effectively engages staff and drives productivity.

At the end of the session, participants will be able to understand the importance of performance reviews, learn how to structure and prepare for effective performance appraisals, develop skills in delivering constructive feedback and mastering the process of setting ad following up on SMART objectives.
