Brexit Information Resources

07 October 2020

Government agencies and our industry colleagues are working hard to keep everyone informed of the latest news, developments and advice relating to Brexit.

There is clearly a vast amount of information out there - below we've highlighted some of the key issues. Click on the links for the most up to date information:

Added 8/Jan - Traders must ensure that UK hauliers have the correct paperwork to comply with new animal and animal product checks at the EU border. Full info here.

Added 16/Dec - New support for traders and businesses goes live today with the launch of the Movement Assistance Scheme (MAS), to help them meet new requirements for moving animals, plants and associated products from Great Britain to Northern Ireland after the transition period ends.

Added 10/Nov - A Help to Stay in Scotland Toolkit is now available to provide help and support for EU Citizens - we want to help you stay in Scotland. Further info is also available at https://www.mygov.scot/eu-exit-citizens/

  • Scotland’s Enterprise and Skills Agencies ‘Find Business Support’ - Type in ‘Brexit’ in the search bar to find appropriate support and information https://findbusinesssupport.gov.scot/
  • Brexit Food Hub - run by a group of food and drink industry organisations (including FDF, AHDB, QMS amongst others) sets out how these new arrangements will work. The site aims to provide a central source of information for agri-food businesses, drawn from official UK and EU guidance on what will happen when the “business as usual” transition period ends on 31st December 2020 https://brexitfoodhub.co.uk/
  • UK Government, the Border with the European Union – Importing and Exporting Goods Operating Model – A guide outlining the processes for moving goods between GB and the EU from 1 January 2021, including procedures to be introduced in April 2021 and July 2021. Several process maps detail different product categories. Import and export controls are generally reserved, but food safety, the protection of human, animal and plant health, and the environment, are devolved to the governments of Wales and Scotland. This may lead to some differences in precise requirements and enforcement bodies. https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/908534/Border_Operating_Model.pdf
  • Labelling, Brexit Food Hub - The majority of the food labelling requirements will remain unchanged after the end of the transition period. However, there will be some variations to food labelling, and these will apply regardless of whether or not there is a deal. https://brexitfoodhub.co.uk/labelling/
